he large castle complex includes parts of a Gothic castle from the 13th century, and the middle and lower Renaissance style castles, which originate in the 16th and 17th centuries respectively. The castle had been left to decay since 1620 and was reconstructed only in 1998.

Hrad byl založen pocátkem 14. století rodem Wustehubu. Mel chránit predevším zlaté doly v okolí. Hrad byl opušten koncem 16. století, kdy byl za Žerotínu vybudován v letech 1575–1581 opevnený renesancní zámek.
Zámek se v soucasné dobe opravuje, je však cástecne prístupný verejnosti. Prohlídka objektu je s pruvodcem.
