Louis L'Amour was born in Jamestown, North Dakota. He became the most prolific pulp western author of all time, selling more than 200 million books by the time of his death. He traveled the world as a boxer, sailor, and cowboy just to name a few of his jobs, always seeking adventure. It was those adventures that were the basis for many of his books. His books have been made into a number of movies and television series. He was working on his autobiography when he died in 1988.

The Texas Trail of Fame was established in 1997 to honor those who have made a significant contribution to our Western way of life. Throughout the walkways of the Fort Worth National Historic District, bronze inlaid markers have been placed in honor of their achievements. The desire of the Texas Trail of Fame is to inspire and educate visitors through the adventure of reflecting on these Westerner’s accomplishments.
