This marker indicates the position of Co. F, 2nd U.S. Missouri Light Artillery during the assault on Missionary Ridge during the Battle of Missionary Ridge, fought November 25, 1863. This Battle was part of the Chattanooga Campaign and is preserved and maintained as part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. The battery was commanded by Capt. Clemens Landgraeber. This marker is located on S. Crest Road, Missionary Ridge, Chattanooga, TN.

Short Significance Description:

Marker contributes to nat'l significance of park under NR Criterion A because it represents the national movement among veterans & related groups to commemorate Civil War battlefields. This was the first U.S. national military park.

Short Physical Description

A simple 15" x 15" x 6' marble shaft with a slanting inscribed top marking unit's position during the battle, November 25, 1863.


Long Physical Description

Marker is located along Missionary Ridge at 604 South Crest Rd/1934 Map 173.
