This joint memorial to the veterans of World War II and Korea who died in the service of their country was erected by all veterans organizations in Laredo. It stands in Jarvis Plaza, in downtown Laredo.
This substantial memorial is made of gray granite and has a large block of polished smooth gray granite with a shorter wing extending to the right. The larger block is draped with a carved and polished American flag.
The taller panel reads as follows:
"IN MEMORIAM
WORLD WAR II
Dec. 7, 1941 – Sept. 2, 1945
KOREAN CONFLICT
June 25, 1950 – July 26, 1953
"That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain..."
The shorter wing contains the honor roll of men who died in World War II and Korean conflict. Below their names is inscribed the famous quote "Never in the history of the world have so many owed so much to so few."
The bottom of the base of the Memorial is inscribed as follows:
"Erected under the auspices of all veterans organizations of Laredo, Texas"
