"BINGHAMTON, NY - On Friday, July 6, 2007, Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala lowered the Bicentennial time capsule into the ground, officially marking the end of the Bicentennial celebrations...The capsule was buried on the front lawn of the Broome County Courthouse near the flagpoles. It will be marked with a large rock and plaque so that it will be easy for members of the Greater Binghamton community in 2107 to find and open...contains memorabilia from various municipalities within the County. Some of the items contained in the capsule: Photographs, archived newspaper articles, a Bicentennial flag, children's drawings, DVD's and a DVD player."
