This bronze sculpture depicts three irises and an unopened bud. It was created by Steve Palmerton/The Crucible and stands about 36" high, mounted on a base about 18" high. It stands in front of The Hope Center, a non-profit organization which helps families in need.
The sculpture is a memorial to Judy Perry Phipps (6/23/56 - 4/27/14), presented by her family, partnering with the Edmond Visual Arts Commission. Judy Phipps' obituary indicates that she was a teacher and artist, and a volunteer at the Hope Center. Among other things, she was a Master Gardener and we assume that irises were a favorite of hers.
A memorial plaque reads:
In Memory Of
Judy Perry PhippsWhen logic and reason do not allow
And so many questions leave us haunted
Through our faith we can see now
That God got the angel he surely wanted
- Her Loving Family -
