Marshs Lake is an oxbow lake that was once a part of the Assiniboine River. This loop trail follows the inner shore of the lake. There are five interpretive signs explaining the formation and life cycle of oxbow lakes as well as the history of human settlement in the area. A short floating boardwalk part way along the trail gives access to a small island with fine views of the lake and its surroundings.

The trailhead sign states that the trail is 1.5 km in length, but GPS measurements give a total walking distance including the boardwalk to the island of about 2 km.

Ample parking is available at the trailhead, along with picnic and primitive washroom facilities.
