Text on the interpretive sign at the viewing platform: "This location on the eastern ridge of the Allegheny Highlands is one of West Virginia’s highest points. Note how the ridges and valleys generally run parallel. This pattern continues to your right for approximately 80 miles to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and 88 miles to the left to Pennsylvania. On a clear day the most distant visible point from this location is Back Creek Mountain, 15 miles to the east in Virginia." Sites pointed out on the sign: Greenbrier River, Boyer WV, Bear Mountain, Elleber Knob, National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Dunmore WV, Michael Mountain (Seneca State Forest) and Cass WV.
