Perhaps it could better be categorized as a humorous time capsule for its contents and the wording of its plaque. The time capsule was buried in 2014 by the Claresholm & District Museum at the time that use and production of the penny ceased in Canada. Now the smallest monetary denomination in Canada is the nickel, or 5 cent piece. If the cost of an item purchased, with taxes, doesn't fall at an even multiple of five, it is simply rounded up or down to the nearest multiple, as appropriate.
We know not how they came about them nor how many there are in the time capsule, but the museum chose to bury pennies in a time capsule, to be opened on July 1st (Canada Day), in the year 2100, as the plaque relates, "
When they will again be of some value, Maybe".
