Mounted on the top of a cubical brick plinth, this is a very nice, artistic bronze sundial with a stylized bronze gnomon. The face tells the viewer not only that they are viewing Mountain Standard Time, but that the sundial was a gift to the citizens of Claresholm by the Claresholm Lions Club, given to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Province of Alberta. This would mean that the sundial was presented in 1980. To be chronologically correct it would have to have been unveiled on September 1st of that year.
Sundial and plinth are directly in front of the old CPR railway station, now home to the
Museum and Visitor Centre.
