The Canadian County Sheriff Stables is a two-story red brick building, constructed between 1908 and 1913. It stands adjacent to the east from the Canadian County Jail, and was added to the listing in 1995 at the time it was significantly renovated.
This is a square building, stark in nature, with single wood-framed windows that are barred. The windows have brick arched lintels and rusticated stone sills. Originally, the main elevation was the east side, but in 1923, the building was remodeled to accommodate motorized vehicles, and the south elevation became primary.
The south side today has large wooden double doors added in 1923, and currently painted dark green. These doors allowed access by the sheriff's automobile. The double doors on the east side originally allowed access by horses and wagons. Centered at the roof on the east side is a gable, and a hay hook which is original. The roof is hipped, with wide overhanging metal eaves. On the south side is a water pump and old metal horse trough.
The stables were refurbished by Preservation El Reno, Inc. with donations by local groups and individuals.
