The Tree of Life is a three piece sculpture by artist Marilyn Zwak. The pieces are of painted concrete. Quoting the artist from her web site "The trees feature three goddesses who protect and nourish the “Tree of Life”, whose roots draw wisdom from a well in the center of the earth. The Myth, written in the central tree recaps the story of The Garden of Eden, where the fruit of one tree brought death, diseasement and destruction, while the other fruit brought abundance, joy and immortality." The names of residents who contributed to the landscaping efforts are written in the leaves. The installation was sponsored by the City of Tempe as part of its Art at Tempe Town Lake project.
