Since 1969, Jim Bishop sigle-handedly gatrhered over 1000 tons of rock to create his castle along Colorado highway 165 in the San Isabel National Forest.

Bishop has been battling with the government over the rocks that were used in building the castle, which came from the San Isabel National Forest that surrounds his property. Bishop felt they were his for the taking. The government want to charge Bishop by the truckload.

Bishop's goal is to complete the castle before he dies. Bishop is currently working on a moat.
