The Texas Trail of Fame website (see link) has a depiction of Mr. Love, as well as this short biography:
Nat Love, a former slave, found work in Dodge City, Kansas as part of a group of cowboys called the Duval outfit. It wasn't long before he began to show his talent as a cowboy roping, herding cattle, and shooting his Colt .45 revolver. He eventually herded cattle up the Chisholm Trail. He published an autobiography titled "Life and Adventures of Nat Love."
