The statue appears to be made of clay and is painted in bright primary colors (red, white, blue, and yellow). The creature appears to be sitting on its rump. It has a yellow, almost turtle-shaped head with bulging white eyes. It has a blue torso, with white wings stretched out to its side, and four red elephant-like legs.
A sign by the sculpture reads:
"AKERSHUS FORTRESS SCULPTURE TRAIL
Elephant Bird
The jury's verdict:
A lovely, strange and colourful object. The combination of the impossible -- and elephant and a bird -- is fascinating. Something new and exciting arises. It looks a bit sad, but loves its colours.
