"It was completed in 1820. It was to be a Union Church and was built by the Methodists, the Baptists and the Universalists, the latter giving $50, the most in money. Those who could not give money helped in other ways; some gave corn and this was turned into money, others gave lumber and many were glad to give labor. Daniel Westcott and Edward Green did some of the carpenter work. Captain Abner Wood, Colonel Medbury, and Asa Tyler helped to finish the building free of charge."
from website "The church is a simple post and beam structure with a gable roof, measuring 40 feet wide and 46 feet deep. It retains all of its original architectural features such as 12 over 12 wavy glass windows, box pews with paneled doors, and original plaster. The only changes through the years have been lowering the pulpit in 1863 and the removal of the wood stoves. The building has no electricity or indoor plumbing and is graced by an entrance of large bluestone slabs. This structure , a traditional New England style meetinghouse is significant because of it’s unaltered state and fine craftsmanship. The cemetery, one of the oldest in the county, contains approximately 861 gravestones as well as many unmarked burials. The earliest stone is that of Deliverance Eastwood who died in 1795. The cemetery is quiet and beautiful, a place of reflection filled with a variety of unique old stones. Historic plantings within the cemetery include hydrangea, sugar maples, mulberry trees, lilacs, pinksters, spruce, bridal wreath spirea, and rhododendrons. The White Store area was settled primarily by families arriving from Rhode Island."
