At a trail junction just west of Carennac is a waymark for GR 652, the Rocamadour variant of the Way of St James.

The standard blue and yellow marker for the Way of St James clearly marks this junction, a turn at the Dordogne River, 0.5 km from the town of Carennac. The Rocamadour variant GR 652 starts at Figiac and passes through Carennac, Rocamadour, Agen to rejoin the Le Puy route at La Romieu, a total of 298 km in 11 stages. We followed the trail up the pallisades to a viewpoint overlooking the village of Mezel in the Dordogne Valley below. We then left the the Way of St James and followed the yellow trail markers to loop back to Carennac.
