This square cast iron orientation table is now bolted to a much newer observation tower on the granite boulders of Flinders Peak, at the top of a hike in the You Yangs National Park.
The description of the geocache nearby denotes that Flinders left a scroll, with observations of his survey in a rock cairn on the top of the peak, describing it as possibly the first geocache of Australia.
Views are spectacular, and include Port Phillip beyond Melbourne.
