"The artist Victor Kvedéris (1909-1966) was a painter and sculptor, born 1909 in Flensburg. Victor Kvedéris was linked to Sigurd Schultz, who supported and advised him , but the Copenhagen criticism was hard on his works. His principal work is the equestrian statue of King Christian X., which is now listed in Nakskov. (..) In Kvedéris most active years he was in the light of growing up in Flensburg and the sharpening of the Danish self-awareness during the occupation 1940-45, emotionally very attached to the Danish cause in South Jutland. The final years in Birkerød was difficult for Kvedéris. His paintings are almost forgotten, but his sculptures can still be seen, particularly frequent in southern Jutland."
