Russell & Meryl Zimmerman have added a barn quilt to their outdoor decor. Russell & Meryl have hung a lighted star on their barn at Christmas time for many years. In 2014, they decided not to risk that anymore. Their daughter, Linda (Zimmerman) Burns decided to make them a Barn Quilt with a star design which they can light whenever they choose.
The design is called "Eastern Star" because Russell & Meryl live on the east side of DeWitt and because the Christmas star is called the "Star in the East". This barn quilt is 8' x 8' in size. The colors depict a bright star on a night background.
The quilt is located at:
14152 West Chestnut Road, DeWitt, NE.
DeWitt is a small village of approximately 500 people located in southeast Nebraska.
The main east/west street in DeWitt is called Fillmore Ave. Take Fillmore Avenue east out of town, this changes to West Chestnut Road. The first farmstead you come to on the north side of the road is the Zimmerman farm. The Eastern Star Barn Quilt is visible from West Chestnut Road.
