V obci je k trvalému pobytu prihlášeno 201 obyvatel. 101 mužu a 100 žen, z toho 53 senioru nad 60 let a 32 detí do 15 let. (31.12.2014)
Vesnice leží nad údolím reky Svratky jižne od Tišnova. Mezi ní a údolím Bílého potoka se rozkládá jedna z cetných krasových oblastí, známá rovnež pod jménem Lažánecko - Heroltický kras. Jeskynní systémy zde vznikly díky trem ponorným potokum. Jeden z nich se propadá jižne od Maršova na dne Stríbrné zmoly, druhý potucek se ztrácí severne od Lažánek v Lažáneckém závrtu a vyverá posléze na povrch 1,5 km daleko v Maršovském žlebu tzv. Vincovou vyverackou. Posledním ponorným potokem je Pejškovský potok, který vyverá v míste zvaném Na bílé poblíž Heroltic. Vetšina krasových prostor v této oblasti je však prakticky neprístupná.

     The village lies above the valley of the river Svratka south of Tišnova. Between her and the White Stream valley lies one of the many karst areas, also known under the name Lažánky - Heroltická Karst. Cave systems are created with three submersible brooks. One of them is sinking south of Maršov at the bottom of Silver .mu.mol second creek is lost north of Lažánek in Lažánky sinkhole and then rises to the surface within 1.5 km of the Martian called Deep. Vincov karst spring. The last immersion stream is Pejškovský creek, which flows in a place called The White near Heroltice. Most karst space in this area is virtually inaccessible.
