Bat Masterson's professions were buffalo hunter, army scout, gunfighter, lawman, deputy marshal and marshal. Masterson's demeanor displayed his love for excitement and adventure. He served as a lawman throughout the west and was eventually appointed U.S. Marshal in New York by President Theodore Roosevelt. He eventually left law enforcement and became a sportswriter, but his name is forever tied to western lore.
