Located within the German Methodist Hill Cemetery are numerous homemade tombstones. In fact, I've never come across another cemetery with more homemade tombstones than this one. One of these homemade tombstones is of William Gomer, Jr. who was only two years of age when he was accidentally shot and killed by his older brother. "Being as there was no nearby cemetery, two neighbors each donated half an acre for the purpose. This is what eventually became the German Methodist Hill Cemetery in 1905. So this is the very first grave." ~

Interestingly, there was a Methodist church located here, along with the cemetery. In 1912, the church was relocated to the nearby town of Metolius when the town offered a free lot to relocate.
William's grave is easy to find since it resides just north of the entrance gate and shares space with his mother, Anna E. Gomer.
