The Texas Trail of Fame website (see link) has a depiction of Mr. Murphy, as well as this short biography:
Audie Murphy was the most decorated combat soldier in United States history. He was a Texas native who grew up in poverty but found fame on the battlefields of World War II. He received every medal that the United States gives for valor; two of them twice. He was a successful movie actor, a lyric writer for country and western songs, an author and a poet. He has been called the best horseman of all the cowboy stars and was unequaled for his speed with a fast draw and marksmanship. Murphy has been inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
