This statue is one of the replicas sponsored by the Boys Scouts of America in 1950. They can be found throughout the country. This bronze replica is mounted atop a six foot high masonry base and is located on the grounds of the Cherokee National Capitol building.
Two bronze plaques read:
"With the faith and courage of their forefathers who made possible the freedom of these United States, the Boy Scouts of America dedicates this replica of the Statue of Liberty as a pledge of everlasting fidelity and loyalty. / 40th anniversary crusade to strengthen the arm of liberty / 1950"
"Donated to the City of Tahlequah by Mr. & Mrs. Jim Thompson / Field Executive of Boy Scouts of America / William D. Kaufman / July 1, 1950".
