This is the third building built in 1889 by Bayle on this location. The first two wooden ones burned down. The decorations on the building were ordered through Sears & Roebuck.

"Bayle Block, 1889, P.P. Mills Architect. A two-story brick structure, boxed cornice with brackets and dated frieze, decorated parapet gable with name block, belt course, decorated piers and lintels, drop or pendant at cornice corner, recessed double panel main doors, and cast iron posts."
