The Texas Trail of Fame website (see link) has a depiction of Mr. Austin, as well as this short biography:
Considered the "Father of Texas", Stephen Fuller Austin helped establish the first Texas Colony at San Felipe de Austin on the Brazos River. Born in Virginia, Austin assisted his father, Moses Austin, in a venture to help settle Texas. They received a land grant from Mexico to bring 300 families to settle on the Brazos and Colorado Rivers. Austin eventually brought more than 8,000 colonists to Texas and worked hard to make conditions prosperous and safe for the settlers.
