There is a plaque on the cairn with the following inscription in Norwegian: "Sorgen forgik mig på Ulrikkens top". [English translation: The sorrow left me on the top of Ulriken.] This text is an excerpt of a song titled "Udsikter fra Ulriken." Above the plaque is a bronze harp. Another plaque on the cairn reads: "Biskop Johan Nordahl Brun 1745-1816". He is the individual who wrote the lyrics to the song quoted on the cairn. Above this plaque is a bronze cameo of Brun.
