"The Birs (French: Birse) is a 73-km long river in Switzerland that flows through the Jura region and ends as a tributary to the Rhine between Basel and Birsfelden. It is the most important river of the Swiss Jura." (Wikipedia)

Ibach is a small river in the north of the Canton of Solothurn. The origin is south of Zullwil and Nunningen. It has a length of about ten kilometers and flows mainly northwest. The last three kilometers the river has created a narrow valley that is known as Kaltbrunnental and is a popular destination for hiking and famous for its many caves and dolines. In this valley the river is the border between the Cantons of Basel-Land and Solothurn, but about twenty meters before the confluence with Birs the border turns east and the confluence point is completely on the territory of Basel-Land.

The coordinates were taken from a small sand bank east of the confluence spot that can be easily reached from the hiking path. It looks like it is not always above the water level.
