The former Court House is listed as a heritage protected building by the NSW Government's Office of Envronment & Heritage (visit link) with the following description outlining its importance to the town:

"The site is significant for its ability to demonstrate the evolution of courts in Narrabri, with both courthouses remaining intact side-by-side on a single site in the town. Both buildings are good examples of courthouses designed Colonial Architect James Barnet. Narrabri Courthouse and Court Offices are set in landscaped grounds and form an important element of the town's civic precinct".
