Augustenborg is a small town on Als Island in Sønderborg Municipality, Region of Southern Denmark in Denmark. The town lies at the head of Als Fjord. Augustenborg castle is in Rococo-style. In 1921 the Danish state purchased the castle; it was a hospital in 1927–28 and since 1932 has been used as a psychiatric hospital. There is an exhibition about this history in the building. Starting at this info map there are many paths and trails into the beautiful gardens of the castle.
