Marker is located on the northern end of the bridge just outside the visitor centre, along the St John River railing.
Marker text reads:
HARTLAND COVERED BRIDGE
- Longest covered bridge in the world - 1282 feet - 391 metres
- Officially opened July 4, 1901, covered 1922
- Toll bridge until 1906 - 3 cents per person
- Original cost was less than $33,000
- Walkway was added in 1945
- Designated a National Historic Site 1980
- Winter Olympic torch was carried through the bridge in 1988
- Postage stamp honouring the bridge was launched by Canada Post
Corporation on September 1, 1995
