During the Seven Years War fought in the Battle of Sandershaeuser Berg on July 23, 1758 about 7,000 French soldiers against an army of 5000 Hessen and Hanoverians (Infantry Regiment of Prince Ysenburg).

The French army occupied after the battle for a short time again the city of Kassel.

The stone remembers of the "brave hessians"
