"Chesterfield, 10.4m (150 pop.), seat of Chesterfeild County, jas maintanied its atmospehere of eighteenth-century leisure. The brick Courthhouse, with a tuscan portico, in an enclosed thickly shaded old trees, was erected in 1917." Virginia: a Guide to the Old Dominion, Oxford University Press, 1941 The courthouse is still active today, located right next to the current police station and EMS station. A monument was placed in the courtyard as well as a few memorials and monuments.
