For quite a few years, we had a drought from DQ in the Oklahoma City area. We used to drive 50 miles to Chickasha for a Blizzard. But, they've come back. A store opened in Moore just south of OKC; then one in Del City, to the SE of OKC, and FINALLY, this past week, one has opened at 14430 N. Pennsylvania in OKC.
Dairy Queen has been around since the first opened in Joliet, IL in 1940. The American Dairy Queen Corporation is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. There are over 6000 DQ's in the US, Canada and 20 other countries, with Texas having the most at 600.
This store offers a few items from the grill. Their hamburger is great, but their 100% beef frank is awesome, and I just love their crispy chicken wrap. They take orders for ice cream cakes, and always have dozens in the cooler ready to take. And who doesn't love their Dilly Bars to take home. But, our all-time favorite is the Blizzard. Eat your heart out Sonic! Our very favorite is the Butterfinger Blizzard, although I had two folks tell me this week to try their Tropical Blizzard and I just might!
Get online and join the DQ Blizzard Fan Club. You will receive coupons by email throughout the year, and information on their promotions. DQ also has gift cards and certificates available.
We have found the DQ employees very friendly and helpful, and the company gets involved in local community projects and groups like the Children's Miracle Network. Find the closest DQ to you, and get over there aas quickly as you can....try the Butterfinger Blizzard :)
