The Texas Trail of Fame website (see link) has a depiction of Mr. Ware, as well as this short biography:
A freed slave after the Civil War, this pioneer and rancher settled in Alberta, Canada, after helping move cattle from Texas to Idaho and Montana. A founder of the cattle ranching business in Canada, Ware became known for his amazing strength by stopping steers head-on, wrestling them to the ground, and for holding a horse on its back while it was being shod.
