Mr. McMurtry's star is located near the southeast corner of N Main Street and E Exchange Avenue. It says:

Texas Trail of Fame
Larry McMurtry
Fort Worth Stockyards

He used to have a bookstore, "Booked Up," which took up a large part of the town square in Archer City, TX, his hometown. It's still there -- some folks will see Mr. McMurtry on occasion, too -- but it's a fraction of its previous size. The theater from "The Last Picture Show" is on that square, too. Archer City is quite a hike from the Stockyards, but it's worth a look. Closer by, in Southlake, is the Lonesome Dove Baptist Church, one of whose vans served as the inspiration for the novel.

The Texas Trail of Fame website (see link) has a depiction of Mr. McMurtry, as well as this short biography:

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Lonesome Dove, a novel loosely based on trail drivers Oliver Loving and Charles Goodnight, Larry McMurtry is the author of twenty-seven novels, two collections of essays, three memoirs, more than thirty screenplays, and is the editor of an anthology of modern Western fiction.

About the Texas Trail of Fame: (visit link)

The Texas Trail of Fame was established in 1997 to honor those who have made a significant contribution to our Western way of life. Throughout the walkways of the Fort Worth National Historic District, bronze inlaid markers have been placed in honor of their achievements. The desire of the Texas Trail of Fame is to inspire and educate visitors through the adventure of reflecting on these Westerner’s accomplishments. Trail Guides are available at the Stockyards Visitor's information Center. So come on out to the Fort Worth Stockyards, grab a guide, and hit the trail!
