No one portrayed the larger-that-life image of the cowboy and better on the silver screen than “The Duke”. During his long career, Wayne appeared in almost 200 movies, most of them Westerns. He was featured in such classics as Red River, The Searchers, and Rio Bravo. He won an Oscar for his performance in True Grit. Wayne was also active in ranching and politics. In 1972 he was inducted in the Hall of Great Western Performers of the Nation Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
