Prior to becoming a municipal park this location was called Moxon's Cottages. The cottages were constructed of recycled bricks in 1895. There was a bakery, a blacksmith's, a butchery, a barber & a general store. The buildings were abandoned in the 1970's & demolished in 1976.

There is every likelihood that this hand operated pump is a remnant of those times. The manufacturer was F. Mason of Sydney & Melbourne but I haven't been able to find any record of the company.
