Located within the Shasta Masonic Cemetery, established in 1864, is a drinking fountain that no longer works. There's a plaque on top of the fountain that reads:

This Western Star Lodge No. 2 in Shasta is the oldest established Masonic lodge in the state of California, having brought over its charter from Missouri in 1848.
