The former home of Pierre Simon Vincent Hamot (1784-1846), a prominent Erie businessman, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. The home was built in 1828 and currently serves as the home of the Hamot Health Foundation. Both the foundation and the nearby UPMC Hamot Hospital are named for P.S.V. Hamot.
