Union Congregational is a Gothic / Queen Anne wood structure. It has a square bell tower set in the angle of the two major wings. This congregation was formed in 1895 due to rapid population growth of South Grafton's mill villages. The church was formed in 1860 in Saunderville with 16 members and a pastor. The congregation met for years on the second floor of the post office block at Main and Elmwood, which was opposite the Saunders Mill.
The church was built in 1895 on land donated by the Fisher Manufacturing Company. The builder was Curtis Brigham of Fisherville, a local carpenter.
