Long Description:
The first mill was built on this site in 1827 but was destroyed by fire in 1830. In 1844 the mill was rebuilt and most of that building and future expansions remain today. The dam was built to supply power to the mill. The dam is on the Blackstone River which formed the Farnumsville Pond. The cut stone retaining walls that guided the water thru the mill race under the building still exists today.
