"The Bement-Billings Farmstead, located just north of Newark Valley on Route 38, and the Railroad Depot, inside the Village. The Bement-Billings Farmstead is a living history museum which interprets domestic life, agricultural practices, and the natural environment of the early 1800's. The property includes the original Bement farmhouse, a replica blacksmith shop, a reconstructed threshing barn, additional out-buildings, and 90 acres of the Bement family's farmland. "

Asa Bement, Jr., who settled Newark Valley in the 1790s, had a 350 acre farm, a saw mill, a grist mill, a blacksmith shop and barns. It was then owned by the Ford family and then the Billings family. In 1977 Mrs. Myrtie Louise Billings Hills deeded it to the Newark Valley Historical Society as a living museum.

Open noon-4 p.m. July to the 1st week in October, on weekends. Adults 2 dollars, students 1 dollar.
