Although the date stones don't give the actual day they were laid the NSW Government's Office of Environment & Heritage (visit link) give the date as 28 July 1890.

The hall was originally a Mechanics Institute but over the years has been used for grand balls, dances, war service functions, stage plays, dinners and school functions, and it was once used as a picture theatre.

Emma Brownlow (married Williams) born 1856 was a pioneer of Rockley who fled France during the Industrial Revolution.

The building is still in use as a hall for functions, dances etc & is in a reasonable state of repair.
Year of construction: 1890
