The Blackstone Canal passed thru Northbridge, exiting Uxbridge and then passed onto Grafton. The WM has been positioned to Plummers Landing as part of the canal.

In Northbridge the canal trench contained four locks, including Goat Hill Lock, one at Plummer's Landing, and one at Holbrook's Lower Village (later renamed Riverdale). Plummer's Landing was an important trading location. The canal passed two industrial sites, Holbrook's Lower Village (Riverdale)) and Holbrook's Upper Village (Rockdale)
