The aircraft on display is the fuselage of Boeing Vertol CH147205. This aircraft began life as US Army c/n 86-01650 converted from ex CH-47A 66-00103. It served with the Joint Task Force Afghanistan Air Wing from 2005 until 2011.

This was one of a fleet of 6 CH147s acquired from the US Army for operations in Afghanistan. It served as a troop and supply transport as well as a gunship. This particular aircraft crashed in a sandstorm on 17 May 2011. There was one serious and several minor injuries among the 31 occupants, but no loss of life.

The fuselage has been stored on display outside the 16 Wing Air Force Museum pending restoration/permanent display.

Of note is the "nose art" located on the starboard side of the aircraft. This aircraft was nicknamed "2 for Hooking" in reference to the vernacular "hooker" for Chinooks and the Canadian penchant for all things hockey.
