The Plaque reads:
South Sydney Council. Solander Park.
In 2001 this park was upgraded for the betterment of the local community and its residents. To mark this occasion this plaque was unveiled by the Mayor of South Sydney, Cr John W. Fowler on 24th November 2001. Fowler was an independent councillor for the City of South Sydney from 1989 until becoming the first non-Labour mayor in 2000. He served in that role until the council was merged with the Sydney City Council.
The park is a lovely green space with shady trees and plenty of wooden seating and tables to enjoy this quiet area. There are also a couple of interesting objects forming a Sound sculpture.
