The war memorial is in the form of a eucalypt tree with photographs of soldiers & airmen representing leaves, which move & reflect the sun's light, as eucalypt leaves do. The memorial was inspired by a poem called "They fought to keep me free" written by local devoted RSL supporter Jillian Waud, who then collected the photographs. The surrounding frame of blue represents the willingness of the RSL to render assistance to all servicemen & women under the blue sky. Poppies grow around its trunk.
The name of the soldier, the relevant war, service, whether killed & where stationed appears at the foot of each photograph.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

At the going down of the sun and in the morning
