Canadian-built version of the Lockheed T33. The Canadair T33 was first delivered to the RCAF in 1953 and saw service with the RCAF, RCN and CF until the last 2 were retired in 2005, a span of over 50 years.

One of the most reliable and ubiquitous jet aircraft ever built, the "T-bag" or "Tbird" saw everything from the dawn of the jet age to the dawn of the next generation of advanced aircraft. A total of 656 were built and delivered to the RCAF. Originally intended as a 2 seat trainer jet aircraft, the T33 quickly saw its role expanded to include everything from electronic warfare to drogue target towing for the Navy.

The aircraft on display is in Canadian Forces markings, but retains the original RCAF tail number of 21079, the last paint scheme applied before pedestal mounting. it is listed in official CF records as registration 133079.

Prior to preservation this aircraft was used as instructional airframe A668 at CFSATE (Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering).

Marker reads:

CT-133 Silver Star

The T-33, commonly known as the "T-bird" was
first flown by the RCAF in the spring of 1951 as
a two-seat operational jet trainer. The name "Silver
Star" was in honour of the Silver Dart, the first
powered fixed-wing aircraft to fly in Canada (23 Feb,
1909), and also in reference to the aircraft of which
it was a variation: the USAF P-80 Shooting "Star".

Thirty-one T33s were initially purchased from
Lockheed Aircraft Corporation of Canada Limited,
with an additional 656 aircraft being built by
Canadair Ltd. in Cartierville, Quebec. The first
Canadair T-33 flew on 22 December, 1952.

the T-33 has a length of 37 ft 9in, a wingspan of
38 ft 10 in, a gross weight of 12,000 lbs and a
top airspeed of 600 mph.

During its impressive service, the T-33 aircraft
has performed superbly in a variety of roles, including
instrument training, electronic warfare training and
target towing.

The T-33 21079 is dedicated to the many Airmen and
Airwomen who have all contributed to the remarkable
success of the Silver Star's 40-plus years of service
to Canada.
